Unique Ladies UK – The Rolls-Royce of Networking

Unique Ladies UK – The Rolls-Royce of Networking

During these unprecedented times, many businesses have had to adapt to the way they work, and Suzy Orr and Unique Ladies are no exception.

Adaptability, versatility and vison is key to ensuring the business is successful once the lockdown restrictions are relaxed.

It’s not all been plain sailing for Suzy and after many years working in the corporate world she took the decision to set up a women’s network. Her belief lay in ensuring that women needed their own way of networking in business and to have a pay-as-you go relaxing networking experience.

Fast Forward

Fast forward 5 years and Unique Ladies network is now 16 groups strong with franchises across the North West of England. From the very first group in Wigan, quickly followed by Bolton and subsequent groups. The franchises started gathering momentum in the major towns and cities in Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Liverpool, Cumbria and Yorkshire and they have all developed into the ‘Rolls-Royce’ of women’s’ networking.

Unique Ladies have been nominated and won many awards including, Lifestyles Award winners for Liverpool and Manchester and the Best Women’s’ Network 2020 in the Northern Enterprise Awards.

Their success is tribute to the unique format of the meetings that involves a round table of smaller groups and more informal contact alongside inspirational speakers. Consequently, via the growing popularity of the group the inspirational speakers have ranged from ex-MP Edwina Currie to Victims’ Commissioner Baroness Helen Newlove.

Referrals and Philanthropy

Suzy and the franchisees also pride themselves on the £1,000s worth of business that has been exchanged annually by attendees. The franchisees are also encouraged to get involved with local charities and the Unique Ladies network have raised around £100,000 to date for various charities including: East Lancs Hospice, Rainbow Hub, HorseHeard, Derian House, Children’s Hospice and many more.

Even Covid-19 has not stopped the success story of Unique Ladies. Meetings have been regularly held by Zoom, moving from being free to paid for in recent months and they are still maintaining the attendance numbers. In September, due to the success of the online events the first ever National Unique Ladies was launched allowing great opportunities to continue both for businesses and for Unique Ladies.

What does the future hold – who knows, but it would be the icing on the cake for Suzy to see a Unique Ladies’ group in every town and city across the UK.

The final word….

Women supporting women makes a huge difference to the journey of individual businesses. Networking is such a powerful tool that Suzy and her team of ladies want to get the message out there to as many new audiences as possible in 2021.
