Kath Bell

This month we celebrate one of our original members, Kath Bell. As we approach the autumn and hesitate to switch the heating on amid all the worry in the media about rising energy costs; she could be the person you need to speak speak to!
Hi, I’m Kath: wife, kick-ass mum (according to my son ?), step-mum, grandma, daughter and dog mummy to my beautiful Labrador, Poppy. Not forgetting business owner!!
I have lived in the Ribble Valley most of my life, but two years ago we moved 2 miles outside the RV border into a lovely bungalow in Great Harwood.
Apart from my beautiful family and my dog, my main interests are walking, gardening, good food and champagne!
I’ve been a Partner (together with my husband David) with Utility Warehouse for 15 years now. At the time we joined, we needed to build a pension for our future and saw this as an add on to the business we ran at the time, which could give us a second income stream and financial security for the future. Some of you know our story – we had some serious business challenges, through no fault of our own, and UW then became a lifeline for us, not just for the future but at that difficult time in our lives.
I found that I was quite good at building relationships and trust via networking and helping save people money on their household bills, but more so, at building a network of partners and mentoring them to achieve their own goals and secure financial futures, whatever that might mean for them. 15 years on we have helped more than 3,000 families make substantial savings on their household bills and have mentored 293 Partners to start and grow their own business with UW too.
Like any other business, we have our challenges and frustrations, but I have learnt how to overcome them and can honestly say that I love what I do, the friends we have made and that we still continue to help people save/earn money, particularly in these difficult economic times.

Which Unique Ladies group(s) do you attend?
I attend the Hyndburn and Ribble Valley Groups, and have done ever since they started. The ladies who attend are like family to me now.
What’s your favourite…
…holiday destination? Los Gigantes, Tenerife – we went for our honeymoon 37 years ago and try to get back at least once a year.
…food? I just love food, particularly fine dining – can’t pick a favourite
…music? I always have music on – my playlists are varied:; Soul, Motown, Rock, Musicals – fav is Les Miserables
An Interesting Fact? When I was 17 I was crowned Miss Clitheroe Castle and was driven around the streets of Clitheroe draped across the bonnet of an MGB -?
