Unique Lady of the Month – March – Fiona Garlington

Introducing our Unique Lady of the Month:
March

Fiona Garlington
Phil Garlington The Photographer

I started attending Unique Ladies on 23rd February 2017 – so four years. I felt that I needed to get out into the world and sell my husband’s talents.

Suzy very quickly made me realise how important I was, not just Phil, and with each meeting this built up my confidence both in myself and my role within our business. Although, UL is a ladies only membership, getting our business known was my responsibility and as members met Phil they started to do my job for me, they liked/loved him too. 🙂

That is the key to UL, women are both problem solvers and carers – when someone asks for help, we want to be the person that assists or find someone who can. So, if I know about your business and anyone I meet fits your clientele; I will not hesitate to refer/introduce you. This I have found carries across all the groups I have had the pleasure to attend.

Q & A with Fiona

Which Unique Ladies group(s) do you attend?
My first meeting was at Preston but due to the Lifestyle Photography we do I was welcomed at Wigan, Bolton, Manchester, Chorley, Liverpool and Blackpool.

What’s your favourite…

…holiday destination?  Plas Lligwy, Anglesey – not the most exotic place in the world – but it’s where generations of my family have holidayed together for nearly 60 years (before my time) and we intend to keep up the tradition.

…food? Impossible to say, I simply love eating. With Phil’s food photography, I have been lucky to be served by many famous chefs over the years. I also enjoy cooking too.

…music?  Again impossible – I would be terrible on Desert Island Discs – Phil and I have been together for over 40 years and that brings hundreds of tunes and memories of all genres from Rock to Classical.

Intestesting Fact
I am in Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack as being the first Lady Chairman of a Cricket Club 1989. I also carry a melted teaspoon in my handbag! One day I will tell you why.

Favourite Quote I have two – “One day we will laugh about this” Phil and I have said this many, many times over the years and “Everything will be alright in the end, and if it is not alright, it is not the end.”

One thing you couldn’t live without?
Laughter – no matter how serious life gets; we must keep our sense of humour.
