Unique Lady of the Month – September – Suzy Orr
Introducing our Unique Lady of the Month:
SEPTEMBER
Suzy Orr
Our Unique Lady this month is our very own, multi-award winning, Queen of Networking, Suzy Orr.
As we launch back into our face to face meetings, we thought it would be a great opportunity to present a little more insight into the fabulous lady who brought us Unique Ladies and continues to empower, inspire, motivate and support women in business.
Suzy had worked for many years in male dominated industries, IT & telecoms; and in her experience of many business events she just knew that there needed to be a better formula for networking to empower women in business.
Unique Ladies was launched on 23rd March 2015 at Lancashire Manor Hotel. After 4 meetings she was approached by a couple of ladies about setting up a group in Bolton. That group was launched at Bolton Whites that September. So it’s Happy 6th Birthday to Bolton Unique Ladies this September. Bolton became the flagship for others. Suzy launched meetings at Media City, Preston then Liverpool, and the rest is history! At our peak we had 16 groups, we now have 8 plus the National Zoom.
Women in business are still a minority group. This group is all about supporting, empowering and encouraging women, of all ages (our ladies ages range from 18 to 85!) to be the best they can.
Q & A with Suzy
Which Unique Ladies group(s) do you attend?
I attend all the groups at some point during the year, but Chorley & Bolton are my babies!!
What’s your favourite…
…holiday destination? Too many to choose from but India & South Africa have my heart!
…food? I love spicy food, and seafood so a nice spicy King Prawn anything!
…music? I have a very eclectic taste, The Eagles, Barry Manilow, Bruce Springsteen, Il Divo ……. Bon Jovi!! Charlotte once described my fashion sense as Boho Cowgirl, I think that’s my music taste too!
Intestesting Fact
I was lucky enough to fly to New York on Concorde in 1999, I checked into the hotel half an hour after I took off from Heathrow! The face value on the ticket was £3250 one way supersonic!! (I paid £800 because it’s not what you know it’s who you know!)
